Planning Your First Shoot at Blueprint Studios London: A Producer’s Guide
For experienced producers, the real challenge isn’t simply booking a space — it’s securing a facility that can meet your technical standards, deliver reliability under pressure, and offer the flexibility to realise your creative vision.
Blueprint Studios London, based in Fulham, West London, was built with this exact mindset: a professional, fully supported environment for creators who expect broadcast-quality results.
This guide outlines how to plan your first session here, so you can hit the ground running and make the most of our multi-camera capabilities, broadcast-grade audio, and DMX controlled lighting.
Step 1 – Ensure you know what you want to achieve
To help us deliver correctly for your needs, it’s ideal for you to be able to communicate your requirements to us. Ideally we’ll need to know:
Primary deliverables – how and where do you want your content delivered e.g., multi-platform podcast video, branded content series, live-streamed interviews.
Technical specs – resolution, frame rate, audio format, any colour profile requirements.
Post-production workflow – whether you’ll take raw ISO feeds for your own edit or ask to mix it live and/or deliver a finished edit for you.
💡 Blueprint advantage: We integrate with your existing post-production pipeline, from file naming conventions to codec preferences.
Step 2 – Select the right set and layout
Our Fulham facility features five fully pre-lit sets for rapid turnaround, you can view the options on our website or decide when you get here. You can choose from:
Our Broadcast set – with an integrated in vision LED screen to take your branding, or be used as a canvas for graphics, remote feeds or social media. Avaialble with our without a broadcast desk and with a choice of podcast or tv microphones.
Our Display set – idea for product launches or for dressing props into the integrated lit shelving units
Our Conversation set – an English country house feel for those more intimate or classy conversations
A choice of Green, White or Black background – giving you the ultimate flexibility
Step 3 – Get the most out of the available tech
We can offer lots of different technical solutions, some will be right, some won’t be. Some are available instantly others need prep time. At the time of booking let us know what you’re trying to achieve and we’ll be able to help. Some of the solutions available to you.
Camera systems – multi-camera rigs with live switching or ISO recording.
Audio capture – broadcast-grade microphones, multi-track recording, and redundancy options.
Graphics – real-time graphics creation, lower thirds, scoreboards, moderated social content, tele-stration, we can add lots of options to make your production stand out.
Virtual Sets - choose from and ready to go virtual set or have our team create a custom one for you.
Connectivity – fibre internet for live streaming, remote guest integration, or secure cloud transfer.
💡 Blueprint advantage: Our technical team can pre-plan routing diagrams, signal paths, and integration with your equipment.
Step 4 - Give yourself enough time
It’s easy to think that you only need an hour to create your content. But our advice is not to underestimate how much time you need ot be prepared and get the content just right. Always factor in:
Prep and set-up time - getting everyone and everything into the right space and knowing exactly how you want your proudction to look. Investment in time here will add massive dividends to your output.
Rehearsal and blocking time - if you’ve got multiple guests or even if it’s just yourself, make sure you have enough ttime to feel prepared and not rushed.
Recording time - a twenty minute piece of content needs at least 21 minutes to record and that is if you get everything spot on first time and don’t want to go back and redo any elements.
Footage collection time - if you’re taking the footage away with you on a hard drive, you need to allow enough time for the transfer in your booking. Remember their could be bookings in after you and the more cameras or longer your content, the longer this process could take.
As a rule for short content (30 mins or less) you’ll need at least a two hour booking to cover all of the above. For anything longer you should be planning for a half day or day booking. Speak with any of our team and we can advise based on your ambitions.
